| The publication, HART
Field Communications Protocol – A Technical Overview, a technical
introduction and integrators guide to the HART Protocol, is now available
for purchase. The 120-page technical manual is intended to help end
users and systems integrators to understand the features and benefits
of HART technology, how it works and what it can do.
“The manual provides technical details of the HART Protocol
in a user-friendly format that will help users and system integrators
understand the features and benefits of the technology,” says
Ed Ladd, HCF Director of Technology Programs. “It is an excellent
reference manual for anyone who wants to know more about HART technology
without delving into the 2500-page Protocol Specification.”
The manual was written by Romilly Bowden, who worked on the original
development of the HART Protocol in the 1980s and notes in his introduction,
“written to be read sequentially or to be used as reference,
the manual has short sections, each on a specific topic.”
The topics included in the new manual are: a general introduction
and benefits of HART technology; the HART physical signal; system
components; message structure and transactions; commands, data and
status indicators; host connection procedure; device descriptions
and device families; and an introduction to HART C8PSK.
